Three Central Figures in our Faith

Abraham, Moses, and Yeshua are all significant figures in the history of our faith. In this article, I would like to examine some of the examples that each of these provides for us to emulate.

Let’s start by examining a few points in Abraham’s life. Abraham is the father of the Jewish people, and his story is told in the Hebrew Bible, often referred to as the Tanakh. He is known for his faith in God and for being the patriarch of the Israelites. God gave Abraham a challenge that tested his faith by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac, but at the last moment, Yahweh provided a ram for the sacrifice instead.

Moses is another important figure in our faith. He was given the responsibility of leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and receiving the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai. Moses was reluctant to accept the task of leading the Israelites, but he eventually became one of the most important prophets in the history of God’s people.

While Abraham and Moses are important in our faith, Yeshua is the central figure of religion – He is our Lord and our King. Yeshua is the son of God who came to Earth to save humanity from sin and total destruction. He performed many miracles and teachings that are recorded in the New Testament, and He was ultimately crucified by the Roman authorities. One of our central beliefs about Yeshua is that He rose from the dead three days later and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father.

How can we be like Abraham?

Abraham is a model of faith and obedience. There are various ways in which we can emulate his example.

Abraham’s faith in God was the foundation of his life. He trusted in God’s promises, even when they seemed impossible. To be like Abraham, cultivate a strong faith in God and trust in His plan for your life. We too should have a deeply rooted belief in God and His presence.

When Yahweh called Abraham to leave his homeland and travel to a new land, he obeyed without hesitation. To be like Abraham, we should be willing to follow God’s call, even if it means leaving our comfort zone.

Abraham was known for his hospitality. He welcomed strangers into his home and treated them with kindness and respect. To be like Abraham, we must cultivate a spirit of hospitality and kindness toward others. The Didache instructs believers to be hospital to those who come to our homes, especially teachers and spiritual leaders in our faith. “Let every apostle who comes to you be received as the Lord.” (Didache 11)

Abraham was also known for his generosity. He shared his wealth with others and was always willing to help those in need. To be like Abraham, we should practice generosity and be willing to share what we have with others.

Abraham waited many years for the Father’s promise to be fulfilled. He trusted in God’s timing and was patient in waiting for His plan to unfold. To be like Abraham, it is important to practice patience and trust in God’s timing, even when it seems like things are taking a long time to happen.

By following these principles, we can emulate Abraham’s example and cultivate a strong faith in our heavenly Father, a spirit of hospitality and kindness, and a willingness to follow God’s call in our lives.

How can we be like Moses?

Moses was one of the greatest leaders and prophets in the Tanakh. There are various ways in which we can be more like him.

Moses was known for his wisdom and understanding. He spent time alone with God and listened carefully to His voice. To be like Moses, we need to seek wisdom through prayer and meditation and listen for God’s guidance in our lives.

Moses was also a champion of justice and fought for the rights of the oppressed. He challenged Pharaoh and led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. To be like Moses, stand up for what is right and fight against injustice, oppression, and exploitation. Slavery still exists today and human trafficking is at an all time high. Help make others aware of these sins in the world.

Moses was one of the most humble leaders in the Bible. He did not seek power or glory for himself, but instead, he focused on serving God and His people. To be like Moses, we can cultivate a spirit of humility and service, and put the needs of others before those of our own.

Moses faced many challenges and obstacles during his leadership, but he remained steadfast and courageous. He trusted in God’s power and strength and did not let fear hold him back. To be like Moses, we should develop and maintain courage in the face of adversity, and trust in God’s power to guide and protect us.

Moses spent his life in service to God and His people. He led the Israelites through the wilderness and helped them to establish a new way of life. To be like Moses, we should always be looking for various opportunities to serve others and use our gifts and talents to make a positive impact on our brethren and the world.

By following these principles, we can emulate Moses’ example and become wise, just, humble, courageous, and servant-hearted brothers and sisters in our spiritual communities and beyond.

How can we be like Yeshua?

Yeshua is the perfect model of love, compassion, and selflessness in our religion. While it is important to emulate the faith of Abraham and Moses, Yeshua’s example should definitely be our primary.

Yeshua taught that the greatest commandment is to love Yahweh our God and love others. To be like Yeshua, it is imperative that we show love and kindness to everyone we meet, even those who are difficult to love.

Yeshua spent His life serving others, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and caring for the poor. To be like Yeshua, we need to look for opportunities to serve our fellow man and use our gifts and talents to make a positive difference in their lives.

Yeshua taught the importance of forgiveness and modeled it in his own life. Similarly, we need to practice forgiveness and let go of anger and resentment toward those who have hurt us.

The record of Yeshua’s life outlined in the New Testament shows that He was humble and did not seek power or set up a political kingdom on earth. To be like Yeshua, we need to cultivate a spirit of humility and put the needs of others before those of our own.

Yeshua had a deep trust in His Father and relied on Him for guidance and strength. In the same way, we too need to trust in God and seek His will for our life.

In a similar way to Moses, Yeshua spoke out against injustice and challenged the religious and political authorities of His time. We too should stand up for what is right and fight against oppression, discrimination, and injustice.

By following these principles, we can emulate Yeshua’s example and become a loving, selfless, humble, forgiving, and justice-oriented people of God who seek to serve others and bring hope and healing to a sinridden world.
